Folding gate fittings 19th century type

Interior window fittings of the trapdoor type in hand-polished brass. The model, also known as window latch, is common from the mid-19th century to a few decades into the 20th century.

The unusual feature of our fitting is a completely smooth back, which means that installing the fitting does not require drilling and making holes in the sash. Therefore, the fitting is very easy to install. At the same time, the sash is horizontal in the closed position. On many of the old models, the boom is usually only almost horizontal.

Note also that the edges are beveled, as on the original fittings (there are other simpler “copies” on the market). The fitting is polished, but not lacquered, which means that the brass surface darkens naturally if you do not polish it.

Polished brass. Height 37 mm, length assembled 60 mm.

Suitable screw no. 6. (Not included)

Foot scraper after 1850

Newly manufactured classically stylish foot scraper in cast iron after an old model. Solid heavy quality, specially cast for Gysinge. Semi-circular shape with openwork star pattern. Untreated surface. Marking Gysinge.

It is not surface treated, but should instead be left outdoors until it has “finished rusting”. It will stop rusting after a few months. It can certainly be painted, but where the scraper becomes worn, it will still rust.

Place the scraper on a smooth surface, otherwise there is a risk of it cracking under uneven and heavy loads. Be careful with the rust water at first as it can leave stains that never go away. Therefore, never place a foot scraper on a wooden deck or directly on a stone staircase until it has finished rusting.

Untreated cast iron. Length 81 cm, height 19 mm, width 41.5 cm. Weight 13.6kg

Note! The foot scraper in the environmental image is blacker in color than an untreated one when treated with linseed oil.

Funkis lamp Flowers brass 20 cm

Classic ceiling lamp in Funkis style. Common in Europe during the 1930-1950s. The pendant is 20, untreated brass. The shade itself is slightly cone-shaped with a leaf pattern at the bottom, hence its name “Flowers”. The glass is of mouth-blown opal glass.

Opal glass – usually a white glass, which used to be called milk glass. Opal glass has the ability to diffuse light softly, efficiently and evenly. The surface of our glass is glossy, but opal glass can also be satin or matt. In art, opal glass has ancient origins but began to be produced in Venice in the 15th century.

Brass – or poor man’s gold as it used to be called – is a non-magnetic copper alloy, where copper is alloyed with zinc. The higher the copper content, the yellower the tone. Untreated brass oxidizes over time and gives a beautiful matte yellow-brown tone with patina. Untreated brass was completely dominant on fittings and details before the turn of the century 1900.

Ceiling lamp total length 46 cm. Lamp part in untreated brass length 20 cm. Cup in opal glass. Cup diameter 31 cm, height 26 cm.
