Description
Recessed wall switch in black bakelite. Porcelain insert. On and off mechanism in the form of a rocker. Classic model in Sweden from the 1930s onwards. Very high quality in material and form. Fits in both old and new recessed boxes. Bakelite is a molded synthetic resin that is characterized by a huge shape and temperature resistance (unlike, for example, plastic), and which has a huge insulation capacity against electric current. Bakelite began to replace porcelain electrical accessories in the early 1930s. Older bakelite was brown, brown-black or black, but from the 40s and 50s it was also available in white.
“Staircase switch” means that you can turn the light on at one end of a staircase or room and turn it off at the other end. If you want a staircase switch, you need two switches with a so-called staircase function. If you want to be able to control the light from a third switch, this switch must have a cross function.
