Switch bakelite cross switch

Bakelite cross switch without frame for wall mounting.

Cross switches should only be selected when more than two switches are used for the same lamp and are installed between two staircase switches, for example in a staircase or in a basement when a light point is to be switched on and off from several locations.

If you want a regular switch to turn a light source on and off, or have two switches connected to the same lamp, you should choose staircase switches instead.

Switch bakelite insert staircase switch

Recessed wall switch in black bakelite. Porcelain insert. On and off mechanism in the form of a knob instead of a rocker. Classic model in Sweden from the 1930s onwards. Very high quality in material and shape. Suitable for both old and new recessed boxes. Bakelite is a molded synthetic resin that is characterized by a huge shape and temperature resistance (unlike, for example, plastic) and a huge insulation capacity against electric current. Bakelite began to replace porcelain in the early 1930s. Older bakelite was usually brown, brown-black or black, but since the 1940s it has also been available in white.

“Staircase switch” means that you can turn the light on at one end of a staircase or room and turn it off at the other end. If you want a staircase switch, you need two switches with a so-called staircase function. If you want to be able to control the light from a third switch, this switch must have a cross function.
